The earliest that this timber cottage can be identified in Sands Directory is 1897, and James Taylor was listed in Braemar until 1904, Hurst for one year, then Sidney Blaxland in Braemar until 1914. The cottage has the appearance of earlier cottages in the area and is said by a recent owner to have been built by Tornaghi (see 31 Madeline Street) many years earlier. Braemar’s land was part of Milano, and the recent owner of Braemar held a receipt for a deposit of £93 15s, paid in 1909. Sands Directory however first listed William B. Willis here in 1914. Braemar means On the Hill.
