This house was built by Joseph Cook in 1907 for Harry Vernon Dixon on part of the Windeyer subdivision. Imposing, on a site above the water, Blen Cathra is one of the best examples of the Federation style in Hunters Hill. In the 1960s and 1970s it was the home of David Saunders, Professor of Architecture at Sydney University, and his wife Doreen, also an architect, who did much of the historical and architectural research for the 1969 edition of this book.
