This row of small terrace houses is unusual this far from the city. They are survivors from a time when Alfred Street was listed as having several residents and dwellings on both sides of the street. They were probably cottages for workmen at Mort’s Dock and are an evocative reminder of the working class way of life in Woolwich at the time.
