Alexander Hood of Clarence River paid £250 in 1885 for land in the Field of Mars Common sale. He sold it in 1914 to Walter Bryant, poultry farmer (said to have kept five acres of ducks), who subdivided. The style of this timber cottage suggests the 1890s. Sands Directory listed Mrs Mary Pittmann as the only resident in this area (other than occupants of Nardoo, 62 Blaxland Street) for some years from 1903 which was the first year Blaxland Street was mentioned.
