This house was built on Lots 24 to 27, Section 2, Valentia Subdivision. Robert J. Roberts, surveyor, owned the eight-room stone house which had a 160 foot frontage to Palser Street, in 1884. Rose Lindsay (nee Soady) wife of Norman Lindsay, is said to have lived here as a child. In 1900 the house was called Comus Villa. Built on a natural rock shelf the house faces wide views of the river; underneath a cavity for cool storage was made. In 1906-7 the house was sold to William Day, postmaster, for £1800.
