Thomas Connelly, a gardener, moved into this stone house in the year of its construction 1881, from across the road where his wooden cottage had been demolished to allow extensions to the garden of Judge C.J. Manning’s new home Sans Souci (later Merimbah, 21 Alexandra Street). From 1909 members of the Hellman (or Hillman) family (see 36 and 38 Alexandra Street) lived here.
