This house and four others, in Ernest Street (11, 15, 17, 19), were built between 1896 and 1906 by Mrs Annie Beatrice Lenehan. She was the widow of Andrew Francis Lenehan and had the houses built by her son for investment; she died in 1955 at the age of 97, and her grandson was still in Hunters Hill in 1982. Once the building industry had recovered after the depression of 1893, this style of house became economical and aesthetically acceptable; cavity brick walls, Marseilles terracotta tiles and timber verandahs.
