This was a second house, for tenants, on the property of David Poyntz, whose own residence was Quambi, a weatherboard house further south in the street. Quambi was demolished in 1972 to make way for home units. This house is a good example of the many stone cottages in Hunters Hill, a number of which were built by the early stonemasons for their own homes. They were two or four-room dwellings, unpretentious and solid; they are admired for their simplicity and character today.
