A surveyor’s notebook in the Mitchell Library shows progress on this cottage as ‘base course laid’, on May 27, 1884. It was being built for Annie F. Schmidt and in 1885 she let her six-room stone house to James Scouller. The external walls are nineteen inches (over 48 centimetres) thick.
