This house was built for Henry G. Kilby during 1890 on the land (Lot 9, 9a, Part 8, Section 1, Wybalena) adjoining his Labrena (9 Wybalena Road). He moved into it part of the way through the year. By 1916 he was back in Labrena and Albert Glaze Cureton was living in Bentham. The house has been converted into units, retaining the period architectural features of the building, although view of it was earlier obscured by a garage in the centre of the street frontage. The photo is from c1897 and shows the Meggitt family (see 16 Vernon Street) relaxing on the tennis court.
