This delightful sandstone cottage has a suitable style and location to sustain its reputation for having been the porter’s lodge of Richard Sim’s adjacent Milthorpe (12 Crescent Street). It seems to pre-date Milthorpe (1872) because a cottage already stood here when Sim bought this lot from W.B. Campbell in 1870. Conrad Nattey, gardener, lived here from about 1877 until 1890.
